Drew Lowery's Blog: Barbeque Ready Patio

This past week I stopped in for my monthly visit to Las Vegas, right now the first house we remodeled is not rented to a tenant and we plan to keep it that way for the summer so we can enjoy it ourselves.

I was invited by Ace Hardware to get my backyard “Barbeque Ready” for the summer season and their invitation could not have been more timely. We spent last summer without a barbeque so we were desperately in need of one for the rear yard. Ace Hardware invited me to show off the Weber Genesis Grill and (twist my arm!) I said “Of course!”

Previously we never used this side yard but we decided to maximize the utility of this outdoor space since it has a view of the rear yard pool. There was an unused patch of grass so we opted to remove it and the rock walkway and extend the patio, connecting it to the rest of the hardscape. Here’s a peek at it a month ago:

Adding this patio allowed for a space for a table, chairs, and BBQ zone which we will enjoy when we spend several weeks here this summer. (Also great for when the home is rented too!) I also shopped Ace Hardware’s online store for a new table and chairs and a fab navy striped market umbrella for shade protection.

I purchased the square X base dining table online, as well as the four woven stackable chairs which are stylish, comfortable, and sturdy.

These Paradise Lanterns and cobalt blue planters I found at my local Ace Hardware, each one stocks a variety of outdoor décor and kitchen utensils too. The lanterns are battery operated and add ambiance in the evening.

This Weber Genesis Grill is a beautiful copper color and more importantly a fabulous BBQ with a side burner and handy tool hooks! The temperature is easy to control with the multiple dials and round gauge on the hood.

The Weber Genesis Grills are available in multiple colors including charcoal, black, also jade green and crimson, I chose Copper to complement my blue accents and terra cotta tile roof.

I wanted to try out the new grill right away, with some additional BBQ tools I made the Asian Steak Kabobs for dinner (I posted the recipe yesterday). My handy tools used were the Grill Mark BBQ Tool Set, the Weber Stainless Steel Kabob Set, and a Grill Mark Basting Bowl & Brush combo.
