5 Question to Ask any Cypress Movers
1. Are you insured and licensed?
This is a big one because you are trusting this company with all of your things. Accidents can happen, so you want to make sure that you are covered if the worst happens. But this also will help you to weed out any of the fly-by-night scam companies that cannot even be bothered to get the proper insurance and licensing.
2. How do you bill and what is included?
Different moving companies will figure their rates in different ways. Make sure that you understand what you are being charged and what is/is not included in those prices. Moving companies are famous for quoting a low price and then breaking the news to you on moving day that certain things are not included and your actual price will be MUCH higher. Ask questions and get everything in writing!
3. How long have you been in business?
You don’t want a brand new moving company because you do not want to be the customers that they “learn” on. You want a company that has a wealth of experience. A company that knows how to move anything that you can throw at them because they have done it all before. A moving company that has been around at least a few years with lots of reviews and references will be able to handle even your difficult moves.
4. Where can I see your reviews online?
Check their references of course, but anyone should be able to pick out 5 references that will speak well of them (who know, you may be speaking to the owner’s mother!). Online reviews at places like Yelp are a lot more accurate and will give you a pretty good idea of how a company treats their customers. Look at the amount of reviews and look at how the company handles any negative reviews. And read through reviews to make sure that they are not left by duress. I have actually seen reviews on Yelp that said that the person was leaving the review because the company would not release their things without him leaving a positive review.
5. How do you handle your estimates?
Your move is unique. You don’t want a cookie cutter estimate because there is no way it will be accurate. If a company tells you that they can do an estimate over the phone (except in extreme rush moves, and those should include lots of pictures) then you should try another company. A good Cypress moving company will take the time to look at your home and the amount and types of belongings that you have. That is the only way that an accurate estimate can be given.
