CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS

Hi friends! This post was scheduled to post at 6 am EST and my auto-scheduler failed for some reason so I apologize if you came here and did not know what to think!

Today, I am happy to share with you one of our favorite holiday traditions as part of the Holiday with Heart blog tour hosted by my sweet friend Jennifer of withHeart. If you are coming from A Thoughtful Place, welcome!

We have a lot of traditions we do here at the Cadwallader house for Christmas. It is a time that is really dear to us and we enjoy the meaning of the season and the fun family traditions we’ve adopted over the years.

Christmas is a great time to celebrate your heritage. On my side of the family, we are almost all German. To honor this in our home, we’ve started lighting a Weihnachtspyramide (German for Christmas pyramid). We light our pyramid on Christmas Eve to celebrate and tell the story of the birth of Christ. We started this when our oldest was very young and it’s fun to see our boys enjoy it. We’ve gotten all the jokes from our friends comparing it to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! We haven’t had anyone break it yet– no Uncle Eddie moments to date, ha,ha!

These shots are from last year, but they capture our little guy enjoying it. We are waiting until Christmas Eve to set it up and light it again.

I love this little tradition we started years back. It’s my little sentimental heart that hopes that one day when my boys are grown they will remember how special Christmas was in our home and maybe adopt these traditions when they have families of their own.

It really is so great to see how much my boys enjoy this special season and holiday. It makes this momma extra happy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and be sure to visit Erin over at Sunny Side Up next on the tour!
